Levy Funding: Costs Explained

How much Apprenticeship training can I get for my levy funds?

This depends on the amount of funds you have in your levy ‘pot’, and the Apprenticeship you’re considering. Each Apprenticeship has a maximum ‘funding band’ which outlines the cost of each Apprenticeship. You can find the full list on the Education & Skills Funding Agency website:

Are the costs the same for non-levy payers?

Non-levy paying employers contribute 5% of apprenticeship training and assessment costs, with the government funding the remaining 95% (up to the funding band maximum).

What can my levy funds be used for?

Levy funds may only be used to cover apprenticeship training and assessment costs, up to the funding band limit. Any costs above this limit must be paid from your own budget. Levy funds cannot be used for other apprenticeship-related expenses, including wages, travel, licences to practise, work placement programmes, subsidiary costs, or the setup of an apprenticeship programme.

How can I use my levy funds to pay for an apprenticeship?

You use the apprenticeship service to receive your levy funds and make payments to your training provider. Funds are added to your account monthly after you declare the levy to HMRC, and payments are then automatically taken each month to cover training cost

Use it before it expires

Please note that any unused funds will expire 24 months after they enter your account. For instance, funds added in September 2020 will expire in September 2022. Payments to your training provider always use the oldest funds first, so don’t let them go to waste. Get in touch with us to see how you can maximize your investment.
